Jubilee Breakfast Ministry
“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me …”
Matthew 23:35
Zion’s “Liberty Bell” Church’s Jubilee Breakfast Ministry is a shared mission project with St. John’s U.C.C. Allentown, with support and volunteers from First Presbyterian, Allentown, other churches, and the community.
From November through April, we provide a hot breakfast and warm hospitality on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 7:00 to 9:00 a.m. to those who are homeless and to the working poor. Our guests receive a meal and have a warm place to stay before going to their workplace, or until county agencies and drop-in centers open.
For everyone’s health and safety, since the middle of March 2020 we have had to switch to a grab-and-go hot breakfast and this does mean that we are not able to provide as much warm hospitality as we would like. The volunteers that do help cook and prepare the food are physically distanced, masked, gloved, and repeatedly and thoroughly wash their hands.
This past winter season we were thankful for …
- 164 dedicated volunteers who served
- more than 4,000 meals to
- an average of 58 homeless and working poor guests per day
With your help we will continue our breakfast ministry this coming winter. Go to the links below for more information.
